Rimforsa Strand

Rimforsa Strands idyllic situation on the shore of lake Åsunden has attracted visitors to this beautiful area of Östergötland for over one hundred years. The original building started life as a tourist hotel until it started service as a school for the instruction of domestic skills.

There was a lot of concern about the levels of poverty and ignorance in the rural areas in the early 1900´s, partly fueled by the large numbers choosing to seek a new life in America, and education was seen as the way forward.

The school started in 1907 and was a great success but disaster struck in 1910 when the building was destroyed by fire. Thanks to donations and the insurance returns the building which is now known as Rimforsa Strand opened its doors to students the following year and it continued as a school until it was bought by Saab Aircraft and run as a training and conference centre for many years.

The present owners, the Eriksson family, took over Rimforsa Strand in 1999 and have truly realized its full potential and maybe its initial purpose. Guests come to enjoy genuine hospitality in a wonderful environment and leave with all of their expectations having been fulfilled.
